Funeral services for Alfed
"A.D." David, 68, of Locust Grove, were held Wednesday, February
25, 2004, at 1:00pm in the Leach First Baptist Church. Rev Utah Humphrey
officiated, with interment following in Elm Cemetery. Services were under
the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Mr. David was born October 21, 1935, in Leach, to Charles Edward and Eirtie Ada (Buckner) David. He grew up in the Leach area and Tulsa, where he graduated from East Central High School. Beginning in November of 1953, he served enlistments in the U.S. Marine Corps and in the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged a corporal in December of 1959. He was married to Lenny Massey on March 20, 1972, in Sand Springs. He came to the Locust Grove area in 1974 from Broken Arrow. He had served as a Mayes County deputy for eight years in the 1970’s under Sheriff Pete Weaver. He also worked as a police officer in Locust Grove, Stilwell, and Sand Springs. He had been working as a truck driver for the past several years. Mr. David enjoyed riding horses and horse trading. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and he enjoyed life. He passed from this life on Sunday, February 22, 2004, at his residence east of Locust Grove. He is survived by his wife Lenny of the home; four daughters, Teresa David of Locust Grove, Debbie and husband Gary Howell of Westville, Dawn and husband John Livingston of Colcord, and Davalou Alfreda Buckmaster of Oklahoma City; five brothers, Bill and wife Helen David of Tulsa, Oscar and wife Beth David of Buffalo, Missouri, J.W. David of Sand Springs, Kenny David of Locust Grove, Benny and wife Rheta David of Virginia; three sisters, Lula Mae and husband Doc Moss of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Vada Mallory of Pryor, and Ada Ireland of Blackwood, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, Leroy, Nolan, and Jerry Clay David; and two sisters, Margaret McCool and Christine Stacy. | |
