Services for
Arthur R. "Punk" Englehardt, 82, of Locust Grove, were held
at 2pm Wednesday, November 6, 2002, in the First Free Will Baptist
Church of Locust Grove. Pastor Jeff Blair officiated, with interment
following in the Benge Cemetery. Services were under the direction of
the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Mr. Englehardt was born March 28, 1920, in Strang, to Walter and Bernetta "Nettie" (Sisco) Englehardt. A lifetime resident of Mayes County, he grew up in the Rock Creek area near Strang and came to the Locust Grove area in the late 1940’s. He married Jean Oieta Allred on October 23, 1958, in Claremore. He worked as an independent roofing contractor for many years, and a laborer for Dyer Construction up until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he liked to make his own fishing lures and jigs. In his woodworking shop he enjoyed restoring antique furniture and making grandfather clocks. He loved to tell a story to anyone who would listen, and he especially loved time spent with his family and grandchildren. He passed from this life on Sunday, November 3, 2002, in Tulsa, at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 6 days. He is survived by his wife Oieta of the home; son Raymond and wife Roxie Englehardt of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Opal and husband Danny Chancellor of Salina, Beverly and husband Keith Conner of Locust Grove; sister Juanita Ingram of Pryor; a special nephew he helped to raise, Jim; three grandchildren; many other nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents, six brothers, and three sisters. |
