| Funeral services for Bobby D. Harper, 57,
of Tulsa, were held Monday, March 19, 2001, at 2pm in the
Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Keith
Burden officiated, and interment followed in Hogan
Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Grove

of the Locust Grove Funeral Home. Mr. Harper was born October 22, 1943, in Tulsa, to Walter "Bud" and Sadie (McConnell) Harper. He grew up in the Tulsa area, where he attended Central High School. He entered the US Navy on January 31, 1961, and was honorably discharged September 1, 1964. He married Nancy Griggs on April 15, 1977, in Tahlequah. He was a licensed electrician, and had worked for Dooley Electric in Tulsa before he became disabled in June 2000. He was extremely skilled at his profession. He was of the Baptist faith. His friends and family will always remember how he loved to sing Karaoke, and he was the biggest fan of his wife Nancy and son Toby when they sang. He loved old war movies and westerns, and his favorite television shows included "Gunsmoke", "Dragnet", "The Honeymooners", and "Burns & Allen". He also loved anything about John F. Kennedy, and you could usually find him watching golf on Sunday afternoons. He always liked wearing his overalls, and he got a kick out of pestering his wife's best friend. He was the type of person who, once he touched your life, you would never forget him. Friends who came to visit will always remember him as the "All Time Greeter". He passed from this life on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, in Tulsa. He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, daughter Tracy Wilson of Tulsa, son Toby Harper of the home, granddaughter Courtney Burnette of Tulsa, sister Shirlene and husband Richard Fruechting of Tulsa, brother Joe and wife Wanda Harper of Tulsa, sister-in-law Val Harper of California, brother-in-law Bob Ausmus of Tahlequah, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Bill Harper, and sister Geraldine Ausmus. |
