James Robert "Bob" Pendergraft
June 28, 1936 - January 21, 2004
 
Funeral services for James Robert "Bob" Pendergraft, 67, of Locust Grove, were held Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 10:00am in the First United Methodist Church, Locust Grove. Dr. Brian Kovacs officiated, with interment following in Hogan Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Pendergraft was born June 28, 1936, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Robert Hugh and Viola Mae (Gress) Pendergraft. He grew up in the Fairland and Miami, Oklahoma area, and graduated from Miami High School in 1954. He married Trixie Dee Garoutte on January 19, 1957, in Miami. He earned his associate’s degree from NEO A&M, and also studied accounting at Draughn’s School of Business. The Pendergrafts came to the Locust Grove area in 1971 from Tulsa, where Bob worked as an inventory control supervisor for MCC Center Line. In 1995 he retired after 37 years with the company.

Bob was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove, where he had served as lay leader, Sunday school teacher, and Sunday school superintendent. Some of his favorite pastimes included attending OU football games, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, and his favorite place to go was Colorado. He passed from this life on Wednesday, January 21, 2004, in Tulsa.

He is survived by his wife Trixie Pendergraft of the home; son Mike and wife Robin Pendergraft of Rose; daughter Becky and husband Dale Neighbors of Locust Grove; three brothers, Charles Thomas "Tom" and wife Carol Pendergraft, (Larry) Dee and wife Debbie Pendergraft, and Terry Eugene Pendergraft, all of Miami, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; his mother-in-law Grace Garoutte of Miami; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Gary Lee Pendergraft.

Friends are donating in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the Locust Grove First United Methodist Church.
