David Allen Nichols
July 9, 1932 - June 15, 2001
 
Graveside services for David Allen Nichols, 68, of Locust Grove, were held Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at 2pm in the New Home Cemetery, Peggs. Rev. Ronnie Snow officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Nichols was born July 9, 1932 in Locust Grove to George Franklin and Luella Pearl Dyer Nichols. He grew up and attended school in Locust Grove, and was a lifetime resident of the area. He entered the US Army on January 12, 1953, and was honorably discharged May 12, 1955. He married Geraldine Goforth on November 19, 1965 in Noel, Missouri. He worked mostly as a drywall installer, retiring in 1989. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising game chickens.

He passed from this life on Friday, June 15, 2001, at his home near Locust Grove. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Geraldine Nichols of the home; two sons, Dennis and wife Mary Dawn Prescott of Rose, David and wife Mandy Nichols of Peggs; four daughters, Denise and husband David Holderbee of Pryor, Anita and husband Roy LeForce of Peggs, Laura Nichol s of Locust Grove, and Tina Nichols of Tulsa; three brothers, Jeff and wife Mary Nichols, Tom and wife Linda Nichols, Jerry and wife Glenda Nichols, all of Locust Grove; four sisters, Virginia Williams, Betty and husband Bill Cox, Nellie and husband Bud Williams, Catherine and husband John Wilkinson, all of Locust Grove; 28 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special friend, Jim Walls. He was preceded in death by both parents, an infant daughter , step-son Kim Prescott, brother Jessie Nichols, sister Mildred Moody, and grandson David Dewayne "Tooter" Nichols.
