| V. Euletta Foreman November 4, 1920 - April 9, 2002 | |
| A memorial service for Euletta Foreman, 81, of Locust Grove, was
held Monday, April 15, 2002, at 6pm in the First United Methodist Church.
Pastor Mark Watson and Ron Jacobs officiated. Arrangements
were entrusted to the care of Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Mrs. Foreman was born November 4, 1920, in the Kneescoop Prairie area of Adair County, to Frank Rhea and Lizzie Mary (Robinson) Bunnell. She grew up mostly in rural Mayes County, working with her 10 brothers and sisters on the family farm and attending school. She graduated from Pryor High School in 1938. She later met Hillard S. Foreman of Locust Grove, and the couple were married September 4, 1940, in Mayes County. She helped her husband operate Foreman’s Clothing Store in Locust Grove while raising her family. She eventually became interested in real estate, and obtained her broker’s license in 1964. For the next 33 years, she worked as owner-broker of Foreman’s Real Estate, and stayed very active in her community. She served as Locust Grove’s first woman mayor in the 1970’s; she was also very active in the Chamber of Commerce, and had served as president. She spearheaded a project to save and restore the old Saline Courthouse. She was a strong supporter of education and the Locust Grove Schools. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Locust Grove. A longtime member of the Mayes County Board of Realtors, she had served as secretary-treasurer and later president. She was honored as Mayes County’s Realtor of the Year in 1982. Upon her retirement in 1997, the Town of Locust Grove, in recognition of her outstanding service to the community, proclaimed April 12th "Euletta Foreman Day". She was honored with a special retirement reception in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church. She passed from this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in Pryor, at the age of 81 years, five months, and five days. She is survived by a son, Hillard Steve Foreman, Jr. and wife Christine of New South Wales, Australia; daughter Mary E. and husband Steve Bell of Locust Grove; brother Norman Bunnell of Juliet, Georgia; four sisters, Lucille Purdom of Tulsa, Evelyn Pense of California, Mary Freund of Lake Mary, Florida, Lyda and husband Abe Cloud of Inola; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and countless friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Hillard Steve Foreman, Sr.; son Frank Rhea Foreman; four brothers, and one sister. Friends are donating in her memory to the Locust Grove S.P.I.C.E. Foundation. | |
