Edna I. Willis
June 13, 1917 - November 19, 2001
 

Services for Edna I. Willis, 84, of Locust Grove, were held Friday, November 23, 2001, at 1pm in the Locust Grove Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Kevin Pittman officiated, with interment following in Hogan Cemetery.  Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Willis was born June 13, 1917, in Ochelata, to John William and Flora Ellen (Dean) Blankenship.  She grew up and attended school in the Ochelata and Ramona area.  She married Ernest Willis on January 20, 1940, in Broken Arrow.  The couple farmed in the Coweta area for several years, then lived in Tulsa before they came to the Locust Grove area in the early 1950’s.  Edna was a homemaker, and a member of Locust Grove Church of the Nazarene.  She enjoyed working puzzles and reading the newspaper from cover to cover, but she especially loved spending time with her grandkids.

She passed from this life on Monday, November 19, 2001, in Tulsa.  She is survived by two sons, John and wife Donna Willis of Claremore, Elmer and wife Wanda Willis of Bristow; one daughter Phyllis and husband Dallas McFarland of Locust Grove; brother Nelson “Dome” and wife Lucille Blankenship of Barnsdall; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Ernest Willis; brother Lloyd Willis; five sisters, Maude, Leah, Jenny, Glenna, and Mickey; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby McGuire.
