Services for
Hester M. Peoples Breedlove, 82, of Locust Grove, were held Monday,
April 29, 2002, at 2pm in the Four Corners Church, south of Locust
Grove. Rev. Sampson Leach officiated, with interment following
in the Ballou Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the
Locust Grove Funeral Home.
Mrs. Breedlove was born March 9, 1920, in Hulbert, to Nelson J. and Minnie Bell (Smalley) Watkins. She grew up in the Locust Grove area, attending the Ballou and Cave Springs Schools. She and William Peoples were married June 18, 1936 in Locust Grove. They raised a family, and Mr. Peoples passed away in 1958. She later married Bill Breedlove in Arkansas, on August 20, 1963. She worked for about 10 years as a nurse’s aide at the Park Hill East and Park Hill South Nursing Homes in Locust Grove. She had always enjoyed fishing and playing bingo, and she liked to garden and can fresh vegetables. She was a lifetime resident of the Locust Grove area, and a member of the Ballou Baptist Church. She passed from this life on Friday, April 26, 2002, in Locust Grove, at the age of 82 years, one month, and 18 days. She is survived by two sons, Hollis and wife Hilda Peoples of Tulsa, Tuxie and wife Sandy Peoples of Locust Grove; four daughters, Annie Bell and husband Clebern Rice of Adair, Eva Mae and husband George Oxford of Peggs, Sue and husband Henry Fine of Locust Grove, and Margaret Peoples of Denver, CO; two brothers, Bill Watkins of Dewey and Winford Watkins of Locust Grove; one sister, Bernice Griffin of Pryor; four step-children, Norma Jean Cobler, Elza Breedlove, and Ellis Breedlove, all of Locust Grove, and Dean Petty of Pryor; 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; husbands William Peoples and Bill Breedlove; five brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren. |
