Services
for Howard Arthur Elsass, 82, of Locust Grove, were held
Friday, June 16, 2000, at 10am in the St. John Lutheran
Church, Pryor. Pastor Mark Erler officiated, with
interment following in Graham Memorial Cemetery. Services
were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.Mr. Elsass was born January 25, 1918, in Auglaize County, Ohio, to John Leo and Carrie Lucinda (Christler) Elsass. He grew up and attended school in Wapakoneta, Ohio. He married Alice Creamer on January 12, 1942, in St. Louis. The Elsasses came to the Locust Grove area in 1972 from Tulsa. He worked as a master machinist for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft, retiring in 1980. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pryor. During his retirement, Howard enjoyed fishing, and especially loved getting together with his brothers once a year for their annual fishing trip. Having grown up on a farm, he also enjoyed gardening and raising a few head of cattle. He passed from this life on Monday, June 12, 2000, in Tulsa. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Elsass of the home; sons Dennis Elsass and wife Patty of Tulsa, Steve Elsass and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City; daughter Linda Bodine and husband Tim of Salina; brothers Gerald Elsass, Richard Elsass and wife Mary, Ted Elsass and wife Jan, all of Ohio, Dr. Ned Elsass and wife Betty of Michigan; sisters Marjory Daugherty of Michigan, Shirley Lageman and husband James, Sharon Clark and husband William, all of Ohio; six grandchildren, Donna Giebel and husband Brian, Greg Elsass and wife Karen, Steven Ryan Elsass, Cynthia Moore and husband Kenny, Veronica Cauldwell, Victoria Robertson and husband Zachary; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan and Chad Cauldwell, Drew and Sara Robertson, Dustin and Rachel Giebel, Heather and Garrett Elsass. He was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Warren Elsass and Don Elsass; sisters Bonnie Hughes and Bernice Whetstone; and great-granddaughter Danielle Elsass. |
