Joyce I. Pierceson
February 5, 1932 - August 5, 2002
 

Memorial services for Joyce I. Pierceson, 70, of Locust Grove, were held Saturday, August 10, 2002, at 11:00am in the Faith Baptist Church. Mary Coffelt officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierceson was born February 5, 1932, in Argyle, Wisconsin, to Ernest and Mildred (Saunders) Waeffler.  She grew up in Wisconsin, where she lived most of her life.  She worked as a cook at Saint Mary’s home for the elderly in Detroit, Michigan.  She then came to the Locust Grove area after retiring in 1992.  Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, sewing, tending her houseplants, and doing embroidery work, and she enjoyed the company of Freckles, her cat.  She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Locust Grove.  She passed from this life on Monday, August 5, 2002, in Pryor.

She is survived by two daughters, Prudy and husband Mike Beard of Locust Grove, and Debra Nelson of Rockford, Ill.; son Ernie Staas of Rockford; brother Virgil and wife Judy Bowman of Cross Plains, Wisc.; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by both parents, her sister Joan Waeffler, and daughter Alta Staas.
