| Graveside services for James H.
Whisenhunt, 71, of Locust Grove, were held Thursday,
April 5, 2001, at 2pm in the Kosoma Cemetery near Antlers,
Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of the Locust
Grove Funeral Home. Mr. Whisenhunt was born May 4, 1929, in Kosoma, to Henry Clinton and Minnie E. (Gordon) Whisenhunt. He grew up and attended school in the Tulsa area, and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army, with overseas service in Japan. He married Martha Sill on August 29, 1975, in Bartlesville, and the couple came to the Locust Grove area in 1977. He owned and operated Whisco Steel Fabricators in Tulsa for about 20 years, retiring in 1985. He had also raised cattle for around 20 years, and enjoyed keeping horses, too. His favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting, and he also loved watching sports. He liked football and boxing, but his favorite sport was baseball, and he always rooted for his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. James Whisenhunt passed from this life on Monday, April 2, 2001, in Tulsa. He is survived by his wife Martha of the home; son James H. Whisenhunt, Jr. of Tulsa; step-son Jeffery Wilson of Knoxville, Tennessee; step-daughter Stephanie Samuels and husband Greg of Towanda, Kansas; brother William L. Whisenhunt and wife Joyce of Tulsa; sister Betty Webb and husband Ellis of Nixa, Missouri; three grandchildren, Emma Whisenhunt of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Owen and Veda Samuels of Towanda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Obie L. Whisenhunt; two sisters, Lorene Webb and Bessie Geraldine Lankford; and two sons, Michael Ray Whisenhunt and Wayne T. Whisenhunt. |
