Lula Mae Roberts
November 24, 1908 - November 23, 2003
 
Funeral services for Lula Mae Roberts, 94, of Locust Grove, formerly of Davenport, were held Friday, November 28, 2003, at 10:00am in the Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church, Locust Grove. Pastor Rick Condit officiated, with interment services following at 3:00pm in the Davenport Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roberts was born November 24, 1908, in Stroud, to William L. and Rosalee (Blalock) Clark. She passed from this life on Sunday, November 23, 2003, in Locust Grove.

She grew up and attended schools in the Davenport area. She was married to Herbert C. Roberts in May of 1926, and came to the Locust Grove area in 1949. She was a homemaker, and she loved gardening, especially growing her beautiful roses. She also enjoyed needlework, sewing, and baking; she always provided goodies for her grandkids’ class bake sales. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by a son, Hugh and wife Bonnie Roberts of Locust Grove; brother Jimmie C. Clark of Davenport; two sisters, Virgie Blaney of Shawnee and Odessa Weber of Catoosa; three grandchildren, Jim Shaffer of Muldrow, Judy Shaffer Cox of Sallisaw, and Joyce Shaffer Jacobs of Fayetteville, Arkansas; as well as five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband Herbert Roberts; an infant son Lawrence Roberts; brother F.M. "Son" Clark; and four sisters, Bessie Hicks, Bertha Earp, Lilian Mendenhall, and Pearl Walker.
