Lloyd A. Rutledge
July 11, 1926 - February 24, 2002
 

Services for Lloyd A. Rutledge, 75, of Locust Grove, were held Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at 1pm in the Locust Grove First Baptist Church, Pastor Larry McDonald officiating.  A graveside committal service followed at 3:30pm in Floral Haven Cemetery, Broken Arrow.  Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Rutledge was born July 11, 1926, in Tulsa, to Leon A. and Grace D. (Heath) Rutledge.  He grew up in the Tulsa area and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1944.  He entered the US Army Air Corps and served during WWII and Korea before he was honorably discharged a Corporal in 1950.  He married Reta J. Randeau December 27, 1967, in Sapulpa.  He worked for the US Postal Service in Tulsa, coming to the Locust Grove area when he retired in 1977.

He enjoyed playing basketball and softball in Tulsa leagues for 26 years.  After retirement, he enjoyed spending time outdoors – hunting, fishing, and working in the yard.  He also liked woodworking, and he loved being around his family and friends.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He passed from this life on Sunday, February 24, 2002, in Pryor.  He is survived by his wife Reta Rutledge of the home; sons Dale and Janet Rutledge of Houston, Mark and Jan Brown of Watts, and Michael Brown of Locust Grove; daughters Cathy Rutledge of Grapevine, TX, Rena Easter of Tulsa, and Lori Rutledge-Ryals of Locust Grove; sister Mary and Bill Kuykendall of Tulsa; daughter-in-law Kay Rutledge of Tulsa; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nephews, and one niece.  He was preceded in death by both parents; sister Gwendolyn Rutledge, and son Allen Rutledge.
