Mary Jane Cooper
November 25, 1955 - March 5, 2002
 
Graveside services for Mary Jane Cooper, 46, of Locust Grove, were held Friday, March 8, 2002, at 1pm in the Rose Cemetery. Rev. Travis Martin officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Ms. Cooper was born November 25, 1955, in Casa Grande, Arizona, to Orvil Odell and Nellie (Atkerson) Copeland.  She grew up and attended school in Arizona, coming to the Locust Grove area in the 1970’s. She was a homemaker, and a veteran of the US Army. She had attended the New Hogan Baptist Church in Locust Grove.

She was a pet lover, and she enjoyed watching movies and reading books. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren; they were her pride and the light of her life.  She passed from this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at her home in Locust Grove, at the age of 46 years, three months, and eight days.

She was survived by her parents, Orvil and Nellie Copeland of Locust Grove; two daughters, Julie Amerud and Jeremy Anderson of Corvallis, OR, and Kelly Amerud of Brainard, MN; two sisters, Nancy Tate of Locust Grove and Louise Harrison of Pryor; five brothers, Alfred and wife Dorothy Copeland of Phoenix, AZ, Terry and wife Linda Copeland of Arkansas, Jerry and wife Darlene Copeland of California, Bobby and wife Jennifer Copeland of Phoenix, and Joe Copeland of Locust Grove; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by all of her grandparents, and a brother-in-law, Floyd Lawson.
