Marjorie L. Goforth

Funeral services for Marjorie L. Goforth, 78, of Locust Grove, were held Thursday, October 2, 2003, at 2:00pm in the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Darrell Ragsdale officiated, with interment following in Hogan Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goforth was born September 20, 1925, at Iron Post, to Duke Rodney and Lucy (Martin) Hay. She grew up at Iron Post and attended schools there and in Locust Grove. She was married to Ward Goforth on May 24, 1946, in Vinita. She was a homemaker, and a lifetime resident of the Locust Grove area. She had also served the Town of Locust Grove as a Council Member, as Treasurer, and Town Clerk. She enjoyed shopping for antiques and going to estate sales; she was also a quilter. She dearly loved her children and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Salina Free Will Baptist Church. She passed from this life on Monday, September 29, 2003, in Salina.

She is survived by a son, Steve and wife Sharon Goforth of Locust Grove; daughter Kathy and husband Eugene Carson of Ft. Gibson; three brothers, John and wife Ailene Hay of Flint Ridge, Dan and wife Jeannie Hay of Wichita, Kansas, and Bill Hay of Oroville, California; sister Ruth Yarborough of Locust Grove; sister-in-law Vera Shafer of Pryor; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Ward Goforth, sister Mary Keith, and brother Pete Hay.
