Graveside services for Opal M. Kring, 87, of Locust Grove, were held Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at 10:00am in Hogan Cemetery. Rev. Coy Scroggins officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kring was born June 25, 1915, in Peggs, to Thomas Charles and Nora Ozella (Terrell) Ward. She grew up in Cherokee County and attended the Union Valley School. She married John Kring on September 19, 1937, in Miami, Oklahoma. She lived in Tulsa County for 20 years before coming to the Locust Grove area. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed vegetable gardening and working in the yard, as well as fishing and camping. She also loved to stay up late and read. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #3573 in Locust Grove.  She passed from this life on Saturday, March 15, 2003, in Locust Grove.

She is survived by her brother, Jimmie Ward and wife Jane of Locust Grove, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband John Kring, brother Buster Ward, and sister Rosie Scroggins.
