Roy Earl "Cotton" Evans, 1935 - 2003Services for Roy Earl "Cotton" Evans, 67, of Locust Grove, were held Saturday, April 5, 2003, at 2:00pm in the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Keith Cagle officiated, with interment following in Welch Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Evans was born June 19, 1935, in Tulsa, to Columbus Isaac and Veva Lee (Maddox) Evans. His early years were spent in Tulsa, where he attended Lowell Elementary School. He later attended Shady Grove School in Delaware County, and then graduated from high school in Kansas, Oklahoma, in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army on May 7, 1958, and was honorably discharged April 27, 1960. He married Geraldine Hardin on October 11, 1974, in Miami. He drove a truck for 34 years, and settled in the Locust Grove area in the early 1980’s. He owned and operated the Earbob Store from 1989 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Covey Masonic Lodge in Locust Grove, and his favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing. Friends will remember him as a real ‘people person’.  He passed from this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in Muskogee.

He is survived by his wife Gerry Evans of the home; nephew Clayton Garner; two great-nephews, Matt and Garrett Garner; three cousins, Phyllis Simpson, Jim Wharry and Richard Wharry; and one brother-in-law, Richard Garner. He was preceded in death by both parents, his sister Nena Garner, and nephew Ricky Garner.
