In Loving Memory...
Ruby J. Jackson
December 3, 1911 - April 19, 2001

Services for Ruby Jackson, 89, of Locust Grove, were held Monday, April 23, 2001, at 10am in the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. Rev. Jess Dinsmore and Sister Yvonne Saffel officiated, with interment following in the Chouteau (North) Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jackson was born December 3, 1911, in Locust Grove, to William Hamilton and Sarah Isbell (Maner) Blackwell. She grew up in the Locust Grove area, and graduated from Locust Grove High School with her fifteen other classmates on May 16, 1929. She married Murell Howard Jackson on April 6, 1931, in Jay. She was a dedicated homemaker, and she enjoyed cooking and canning. She also enjoyed sewing and made dresses for all of her girls when they were growing up. She loved gardening, especially her flowers and roses.

She will always be remembered for her great hospitality, for she made sure that everyone who came to visit had something to eat. Even in her last days, she was concerned if there was enough food in the kitchen for everyone who came over. She was a hard worker all of her life and made many sacrifices for her children, whom she dearly loved. She also loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she always treasured their visits. She loved the Lord, and she was a member of the Murphy Church of God, where she attended for as long as she was able.

She passed from this life on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at her home south of Locust Grove. She is survived by two sons, W.B. and wife Lucille Jackson, Rev. Harry and wife Joy Jackson, all of Locust Grove; six daughters, Merlene and husband James Heginbotham of Catoosa, Jerri and husband Paul Farley of Broken Arrow, Mary and husband Dennis Oliver of Texas, Jacki and husband John Quigley of Plano, Texas, Lela Mae and husband Richard Edwards of Jenks, and Sara Kay and husband A.L. "June" Saffel of Locust Grove; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces Joyce Rupt and Margaret Littlefield, and nephew Ray Blackwell.. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Murell Jackson, son Murell Jay Jackson, brother Lee Blackwell, sister Mamie Wilson, and an infant daughter.
