Ronnie W. Melton

Funeral services for Ronnie W. Melton, 63, of Peggs, were held Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at 10:00am in the Chapel at New Home Cemtery, Peggs. Pastor Gladys Cagle officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Ron was born February 7, 1941, in Tulsa, to Darnce William and Rhonda Marie (Cagle) Melton. He passed from this life on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at his home near Peggs.

Ron grew up in Tulsa and attended Tulsa Central High School before he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963. He was honorably discharged August 31, 1969, and married Vivian Louise Heath in 1970 in Vinita. Ron came to the Peggs area in 1978 from Tulsa and began working for HEM-Saw in Pryor, where he has been employed as a machinist for the past 25 years.

Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and making fishing lures. Ron also loved rock and arrowhead hunting. Ron was quiet around most people, but had a great sense of humor. Those who knew him will remember him as being both witty and wise.

Ron is survived by three sons, R.D. Melton of Locust Grove, Ken Melton of Locust Grove, and Don L.E. Heath of Tulsa; three sisters, Tina and James Ash of Mannford, Beverly and Dennis Green, Toni and Bobby Sorrels, all of Tulsa; four grandchildren; a special friend Marty Ward of Pryor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ron was preceded in death by both parents and by his wife, Vivian Louise Melton in 2003.
