John Steven "Steve" Pierce
April 10, 1951 - July 2, 2001
 
Services for John Steven "Steve" Pierce, 50, of Locust Grove were held Friday, July 6, 2001, at 2pm in the First United Methodist Church, Locust Grove. Pastor Mark Watson and Brother Marty Brock officiated, with interment following in Bryan Chapel Cemetery at Boatman. Services were under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Steve was born April 10, 1951, in Tulsa, to Alvin and June (Holt) Pierce. He grew up and attended school in the Locust Grove area, graduating from Locust Grove High School in 1969. He served in the Air National Guard 3709th Squadron in the early 1970's. He married Cathy Whittington on August 10, 1979, in Tulsa. He operated a feed store for many years, and had owned Mayes County Feed in Pryor since August 1995. He enjoyed hunting and car racing, and he loved to watch his kids participate in sporting events, rodeo, and livestock shows. He was a member of the Locust Grove and Salina Ag Boosters. He was a lifetime resident of the Locust Grove area, where he attended the First United Methodist Church.

He passed from this life on Monday, July 2, 2001, in Tulsa. He is survived by his wife Cathy of the home; mother June Pierce of Locust Grove; son Craig Pierce of the home; daughter Stephanie Pierce and Brandon Spangler of Tulsa; two brothers, Ronnie and wife Reba Pierce, David and wife Sandy Pierce, all of Locust Grove; sister Vicki and husband George Heflin of Locust Grove; in-laws Jerry and Joyce Qualls, Bob and Jeanine Whittington; ten nieces and nephews, 14 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Pierce.

Friends are donating to the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of Steve.
