William D. "Bill" Mayfield
July 31, 1938 - October 31, 2002
 

Graveside services for William D. "Bill" Mayfield, age 64 of Mannford, formerly of Mayes County, were held Monday, November 4, 2002, at 2pm in Hogan Cemetery, Locust Grove. Brother Junior Hough officiated, with services under the direction of the Locust Grove Funeral Home.

Mr. Mayfield was born July 31, 1938, in Pryor, to Charles "Pete" and Inez (Hammons) Mayfield.  He grew up in Mayes County, and graduated from Chouteau High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-58. He worked for many years as a truck driver. Since his retirement earlier this year, he had been doing volunteer work for the Corps of Engineers at Salt Creek Recreation Area near Mannford. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing.  He was of the Christian faith.

He passed from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2002, in Tulsa, at the age of 64 years and 3 months.  He is survived by a son, Rodney Alan Mayfield and wife Sandra of Tulsa; daughter Kimberly Sue Parnell and husband David of Tulsa; the children’s mother, Janis McCall Mayfield; four grandchildren; and numerous cousins.  He was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers; and a granddaughter, Bobby Jo Mayfield.
