each stage of the grieving process.
Davey Lee Henderson was born January 8, 1932 in Bowling Green, Missouri to Hurley Paxton and Wilma Mae (Shockley) Henderson. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at his home near Park Hill, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years and 21 days.
Dave attended high school in Clinton, Wisconsin. He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon discharge, Dave furthered his school studies at Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1957, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Dave’s mechanical engineering expertise led him to work all over the United States. He built missile silos and was involved in many projects during his career. His most proud work was done when he helped build, design, and test the simulators and altitude chambers for the Apollo 11 Project and Mission. Dave’s work during this time allowed him to work closely with the 3 brave astronauts who were the first to walk on the moon.
On May 24, 1983, in the Little Chapel in-the-Woods in Denton, Texas, Davey Lee Henderson and Lyndell “Lyn” Sue Corse were united in marriage. They later settled at Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma where Dave owned and operated Sizemore Boat Storage as well as D & L Boat Storage. He was a very diligent worker that worked hard all of his life.
Dave enjoyed NASCAR, as well as fishing and boating. He was also a Harley Davidson enthusiast. He was a member of Community Christian Fellowship in Keys, Oklahoma. Dave’s faith was in the Lord, his Savior. His wish was that all of his family and his many friends would come to know the Lord as he did and then for each of them to have a relationship with Him. Dave will be remembered as a person that loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family dearly. He treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dave was a very generous man that gave to many, many charities. Lastly, he loved food.
