Obituary for Emmit Darel Salyers

Emmit Darel Salyers was born December 8, 1942, in Tamaha, Oklahoma to Edward and Lorene (Eastom) Salyers. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the age of 75 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

Emmit attended schools in the Union district of Tulsa. As a young man, he worked unloading bricks off of railroad cars for Mill Creek Lumber. He had also worked as a caddy for some time. Emmit enlisted as a National Guardsman, where he was ready to serve his community and country if the need ever arose. Known by many to be an honest and hardworking man, he became a plumbing contractor, working for over 45 years in the business.

On March 19, 1966, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, Emmit and Gail Davis were united in marriage. They had been married for over 52 years. Emmit had been a part of the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Locust Grove. He had a passion and love for raising and spending time with his horses. As well, Emmit loved spending time on the water in his boat. He was a very energetic person that was always on the move. Emmit loved his family very much and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Emmit is survived by: his wife: Gail Salyers of the home; 2 sons: Lonnie Salyers and wife Rhonda of Salina, Oklahoma and Tracey Salyers and wife Traci of Locust Grove; 6 grandchildren: Lonnie Dale Salyers, Brady Salyers and wife Angela, Jerrod Salyers, Coty Salyers and wife Kami, Cory Salyers and wife Cassie, and Ashley Smith and husband Nate; 17 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Ronnie Salyers and wife Lahoma of Peggs, Oklahoma, 3 sisters: Trishie Jones of Coweta, Oklahoma, Sharon Dishman and husband Bill of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Shiela Cochran and husband George of Oaks, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Billy Ray Salyers; and 1 sister: Janet Quinalty.

Funeral services were held 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God in Locust Grove. Reverend Harry Jackson officiated. Interment followed at the Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
