Obituary for Richard Alan Cly

Richard Alan Cly was born August 20, 1940, in Joplin, Missouri, to John Richard and Edith Marie (Gulick) Cly. He departed this life on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 14 days.

Alan was a graduate of the Joplin High School class of 1958. Over the years, he enjoyed get-togethers and staying in contact with his Joplin classmates. He had lived in Locust Grove, as well as Bartlesville and Tulsa for some time. He spent most of his life in Claremore. Alan was raised of the Baptist faith. He attended the Maner Baptist Church in Locust Grove, where he also was baptized. Later he attended the Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Alan enjoyed reading his bible. On August 29, 1980, in Tulsa, Alan and Donna Louise Coffelt were united in marriage. They were married for over 26 years, until Donna preceded him in death on January 3, 2007.

Alan had worked in the sales division of Guys Potato Chips Company. He sold a number of different products, including Levi Garrett Tobacco and American Greeting Cards. He also worked for the Conway Tobacco Company. In 1984, Alan became employed for American Airlines Fleet Service as crew chief. He worked for there for over 19 years, until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed monthly gatherings with his former workers over the years.

Alan liked to drink his coffee and eat sweets. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs football teams. As well, he enjoyed watching hockey games. Alan enjoyed fishing when he had spare time. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Alan is survived by: 6 children: Kelly Lynn Cockrell and husband Vince Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kristy Kay Tate of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, John Richard Cly and wife Cheryl of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jody Barnhart and husband Marlin of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, George Fields and husband Reed of Owasso, Oklahoma, and T.J. Cly and wife Patti of Oolagah, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren: Toni, Alex, Daryn, Jesse, Hailey, Brooklyn, Payton, Talan, Will, Ashley, Richard, Tiffany, Dominick, David, Nathan and Joseph; 17 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; and 1 brother: John Gary Cly.

Memorial services were 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Reverend Timmy Coffelt officiated. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
